EvergreensSpring Valley, MNThe Spring Valley Senior Living Board of Directors authorized the construction of a 20-unit apartment complex to accommodate people who do not need nursing home care but who would appreciate having flexible social activities and in-home services provided simply to elevate their quality of life. Each of the 20 units has at least one bath, a kitchen/dining/living room and one or two bedrooms. A large dining area with a kitchen and activities area for resident use is located on the ground floor. Opportunities for socialization are addressed in the building's design and in activities planned for tenants. Although residents are not obligated to share mealtimes with other residents, each resident has the option in his or her contract to select shared mealtimes. A variety of different areas are used for social space. The dining area just inside the front door is the main focus for the social activities, in addition to the great room for group and community activities. |
"The environment we're trying to create in this particular one is different in a sense than what has gotten to be the traditional assisted living. There's so much focus today on what people aren't able to do. What we want to do is take this environment and make it about the social activities and what people are able to do and to keep people as active as we can for as long as possible." |
